Master's Program "Eastern European Studies with Practical Experience"

Starting from the winter semester 2018/19, it is possible to study the new Major "Eastern European studies with practical experience" in the Master's program (M.A.) at the Ruhr-University in cooperation with the Osteuropa-Kolleg NRW

The scientific training in the Major "East European studies with practical experience" is provided by the Ruhr University Bochum (the departments for East European History, Russian Culture and Slavic Studies). University studies and professional practice are interlinked.

The central component of the training is the one-semester practical module. This practical module is not an internship, but an apprenticeship. It includes a 5-month study section in one of the partner institutions of the Osteuropa-Kolleg, which conveys professional knowledge and thus opens up an access to the labour market.

In the practical module you acquire basic knowledge in the following areas

  • Public relations
  • Museum education
  • Digitization of knowledge content
  • Planning of exhibitions

You will also acquire competence in  interdisciplinary projects, carry out literature and material research and learn to work with subject-specific documentation.

Requirements: Completed B.A. studies with a focus on Eastern European studies

To participate in the preparation module and the practical module you need to provide language skills in at least one Eastern European language.
